The problem
In 2018, about 1.5 million dogs and cats were killed in shelters total, about 2,200 per day. This is because shelters are overflowing with homeless pets that the shelters don't have room for. So, the owners of the shelters have to put down the animals.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
-Mahatma Gandhi
What I did
Obviously, I can't fix this problem immediately. But, I can help the cause. I volunteered at Best Friends as part of their clean-up crew. Then, I was able to donate to the society. While this is not a huge help, I am still glad to have made a difference, even if it was a small one. And, as Howard Zinn said, "small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world."
